Mad Science Galore in it's Glorious Myriad Forms!
This anthology does what it says on the box; I daresay anyone considering this book based on title alone will find it hard to be disappointed.
I really enjoyed how different each of the stories were, whilst absolutely still remaining faithfully deranged in a scientific context. Certainly there is horror here, but comedy too, and wholesome feel-good heart-warming tales, buckets of intrigue, drama, cleverness, wit, and several rollicking adventures.
The assortment of writers each have their own distinct style, as do the narrators in their varied roles. I cannot emphasise strongly enough how thoroughly I enjoyed the sheer variety in this offering, which never strays from it's central theme.
Perhaps the most maddening aspect of Mad Science Café is that it's audience doesn't seem to be able to discover it. Personally, I'd probably even give it a second reading; it's so nice to have found such a plethora of broadly upbeat SciFi short stories in one place. If this book appeals to you in the slightest (and if you've gotten as far as reading this review, it likely does) I strongly suggest treating yourself to this delightful collection.
