The Number One Sunday Times bestseller
How do you learn to live again when you've danced with death?
Louise was like any other excited mother-to-be during her first pregnancy, but no one could have predicted what happened when she gave birth. During an emergency c-section, she had severe complications and fought for her life over a number of days, whilst her son was taken into NICU. This terrifying experience impacted on Louise's mental health in a way that completely changed her life, as she has battled to come to terms with what happened to her, whilst also becoming a mother.
As Louise has rebuilt herself step by step, she has reflected back on her life – from her childhood and close relationship with her brother, Sam Thompson, to her struggles with alcohol and toxic relationships, as well as the rollercoaster years of her time on Made in Chelsea.
Louise’s experience has changed the way she sees the world and redefined what's important to her. Although it has not been an easy road, she is determined to come out more alive than ever. Louise’s powerful story, told with raw honesty, shows the incredible human ability to overcome anything, no matter what life throws at you.
'Her battle, viscerally told in this harrowing account, is one to be in awe of and might have you reconsidering your own appreciation of luck' Mail on Sunday

Insanely heroic
The most heartbreaking, harrowing, beautifully written, deepest book I’ve ever read. Working with a lot of women who experience birth trauma made this so real. Louise is one strong woman. Thank you for sharing your story.

Impactful powerful read
As a woman who has been through birth trauma herself, this book resonated very deep in my core. There was lots of cathartic tears rolling down my cheeks reading through her journey; the bad, the ugly and the non linear battle of recovery she embarks upon. What an absolute warrior. I would encourage everyone to read this book, it is deep, meaningful and raw. It provides a true glimpse into the roller coaster of mental and physical recovery after trauma, a glimpse that everyone should see.
Thank you for sharing your story Louise, you are strong, resilient and give hope to those struggling on their own recovery journeys.

Heartbreakingly raw
Lucky is an incredibly raw, utterly harrowing account of everything that can go wrong during childbirth and the aftermath of living with PTSD as a result. It’s uplifting as Louise and Ryan have survived their joint trauma and have beautiful Leo in their lives. There’s a very important message for all expectant parents - advocate and fight for your rights and wishes during the birthing process. It seems an obvious thing to say but when you’re at that stage and vulnerable it can be hard to do. They should never have had this experience and the ramifications were live threatening and life changing. Bravo Louise for sharing your story.

Beautifully written and read
I truly think this book will be a game changer for so many women, mothers or otherwise. Louise’s account of her birth and the events that occurred subsequently was raw and honest and I think her dissection of mental health will validate so many women who have experienced birth trauma. She also has a beautiful reading voice and the audiobook is paced really well. Will be recommending to everyone, thankyou Louise.

Beautiful written about a terrible experience
Beautifully written about such a terrible experience. Although the book is specific to her own story I found it incredibly applicable to my own experiences in life and had to take a few breaks to have a little cry, happy or sad. Amazon work.
