About this listen
New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh brings you the next sizzling story in her Hard Play contemporary romance series.
Jacob Esera, star rugby player and young single father, has worked hard to create a joyous life for his 6-year-old daughter. After the death of his childhood sweetheart soon after their daughter's birth, all Jake wants is safety and stability. No risks. No wild chances. And especially no Juliet Nelisi, former classmate, scandal magnet, and a woman who is a thorn in his side.
As a lonely teenager, Juliet embraced her bad-girl reputation as a shield against rejection. Years later, having kicked a cheating sports-star ex to the curb, she has a prestigious job and loyal friends - and wants nothing to do with sportsmen. The last thing she expects is the fire that ignites between her and the stuffed-shirt golden boy who once loved her best friend.
Straitlaced Jacob Esera versus wild-at-heart Juliet Nelisi? Place your bets.
Contains mature themes.

Touches the heart
This sweet story of finding love after loss touches the heart in numerous small ways. Nalini has a remarkable ability to make her characters real and to show both the good and bad sides of human life.

Horrible NZ accents
I loved the story but the truly awful attempts at Kiwi accents spoilt the performance completely. A neutral American accent wouldn't have had as much local flavour but it wouldn't have grated like the fake accents did.

Always a winner
I loved this book and narration. As someone who lives in Nz I understand that the accent can be challenging at first but it did not stop me from enjoying this book. Justin Okeef is a master narrator and Nalini Singh has great writing. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Loved it!
Yes, it does take a couple of chapters to get used to the accents but then they aren’t noticeable. Great escapism, loved these two main characters.
