About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The empowering, inspiring, patriarchy-smashing first book by the TikTok and Spotify star Drew Afualo.
Drew Afualo is best known as the internet’s 'Crusader for Women' and is at the head of a new generation of entertainment’s rising stars, with more than nine million followers across her social platforms. She soon realized that men on social media were creating sexist content aimed at disparaging women, and also containing rampant fatphobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry with very real-life consequences. It didn’t take long for her to step into the role of unofficial watchdog for misogyny, and her signature laugh is now recognized as a feminist call to arms.
Loud is part manual, part manifesto and part memoir. It is a summoning cry to rid the internet (and our hearts, minds, and lives) of terrible men and create a space to fight outdated patriarchal ideals. Above all, it makes it clear that behind Drew’s fearsome laugh is a mission and a life philosophy, a strategy for self-confidence from the inside out, and a pathway to once and for all remove men from the centre of how women and fems think about themselves.

that was different...
i didnt know what i was expecting when i bought this book but im glad i did. alot of the concepts shes discussed arent new, but her critique of misogny, bigotry and patriarchy is new and refreshing. i love how she relates misogyny to a womans perception of herself and the world around her; as well as how she relates patriarchal ideals to the physical world and how we live. i knew Drew was funny and entertaining, but this book shows how relatable she is. equipping women with the tools we need to stand up... even if we stand alone. if theres one thing ive learnt from this book, it is to hold yourself accountable. Thank you Drew. Alofa Atu.

Vulnerable & Validating
Thank you so much Drew!!! The past few years I have been struggling with things I couldn’t fully articulate and you have validated my experience through your vulnerability. I have finished this book now with a new hope and courage going out in the world, that I can advocate for myself. I now know I deserve respect, my comfort and feelings are just as if not more important than a man’s particularly a misogynist. Thank you!

Reflective, Informative and Inspiring
To listen to this facet of Drew, was an unexpected gift. Her insight and commentary to navigating the world as a woman or fem, felt like a warm embrace from an older sister. I found simultaneously comfort and assurance, that so much of our experience is a collective one (and in that we are not alone), as well as the reminder that we are all powerful beyond measure. From one daughter of the Pacific to another - Drew you make me feel so proud and so seen. Fa’amalo atu, you deserve every success.

I wish this book was around when I was in my 20s!
Such a beautiful read. Very insightful and positively challenging. I feel like I learnt so much about not just drew but living your authentic self in a Eurocentric world as a woman and POC! Thank you drew!

Deeper than I thought ❤️🔥
I had an overall idea of what it was going to be about, but never expected such a vulnerable read. It had me reflecting a lot about my own upbringing, family relations and my own relationship with womanhood. Thanks Drew 💕
