About this listen
Music had become my talisman.... Once alone and in my bed, I could turn up my little radio and be carried away.... This world of music gave me hope.... I saw it as a destination, something bigger than the options shown to me so far.
At just 15, Tana Douglas ran away to the circus that was rock 'n' roll in the 1970s, taking a job with a young and upcoming band called AC/DC. While still a teenager, she headed to the UK and later the US to work for a who's who of bands and artists. Life on the road was exhilarating, hard work, occasionally surreal but never dull, particularly when you're the only woman in the road crew and the #MeToo movement is still 40 years away.
Whether wrangling Iggy Pop across Europe, climbing trusses while seven months pregnant, drinking shots of JD with Bon Scott backstage at Wembley or donning a tailormade suit to do lights for Elton at Windsor Castle, Tana did it all.

LOUD...I LOve It Loud!!
Well, what a story. What a life.. What a journey. This may not appeal to everyone, as it covers the good, bad, and the ugly of rock and roll, and the toll it takes. Told with honesty and flair, the curtain is pulled back on what it's like to tour with some of THE biggest bands in the land. And Tana has toured, lived, and loved with some of the best. If a birdseye of the rough and tumble of the rock world is your bent, well you'll love this. Being a frustrated wanna-be roadie I loved this. You might too.

Great story
Even though Tana’s reading sounds a bit nervous and in a later chapter skipped, the memoir is a fantastic story of growing up in a somewhat dysfunctional family then finding her place in the backbone of the music industry.
Not only was it wonderful to hear of her successful career but also of bands that she worked with at in their early stages
No wonder Lemmy wrote a song about them
We are the Road Crew 🤘

A journey of a trailblazer
I enjoyed the whole experience from Tanas storytelling to her vocal tones and expressions . I love a woman’s story where she wins despite of life circumstance. This book moved me , saddened me and so lifts me. It’s an experience. I definitely am a Tana cheerleader and admirer.

No spark in this lighting rig
She was concerned she may have wasted her life well I’ve just wasted 14 hours listening to it. How to make a story which in theory should have been riveting sound like a mundane slog, is what Tana has achieved with this book.

Good Stories Poorly Read
The story content was good. I mean who doesn’t love a “behind the curtain” look at their favourite rock stars. But the stilted and unnatural reading style, with emphasis and pauses in all the wrong places, made it very difficult to listen to. There was no emotion in the tone at all, which is strange from someone reading their own life story.
