About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Lexi Blake comes a new series set in her Masters and Mercenaries world.

A man without a past

Jax woke up in a lab, his memories erased and his mind reprogrammed to serve a mad woman's will. After being liberated from his prison, he pledged himself to the only thing he truly knows - his team. Six men who lost everything. They must make certain no one else gets their hands on the drugs that stole their lives, all while hiding from every intelligence organization on the planet. The trail has led Jax to an unforgiving mountainside and a beautiful wilderness expert who may be his only hope of finding the truth.

A woman with a bright future

River Lee knows her way around the Colorado wilderness. She's finally found a home in a place called Bliss after years lost in darkness. The nature guide prefers to show her clients the beauty found in the land, but she also knows the secrets the mountains hold. When she meets Jax, something about the troubled man calls to her. She agrees to lead him to the site of an abandoned government facility hidden deep in the forest. She never dreamed she was stepping into the middle of a battlefield.

A love that could heal a broken soul

Spending time with River, Jax discovers a peace he's never known. Their passion unlocks a side of himself he didn't even know he was missing. When an old enemy makes his first move, Jax and River find themselves fighting for their lives. But when his past is revealed, will River be caught in the crosshairs of a global conspiracy?

Really good plot.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this.
At the beginning I was confused, I feel like there was a bunch of information I didn't have.
I couldn't help thinking of the Ghostwalker series Christine Feehan as I read this. Feehan's work is more of the paranormal with his animal DNA splicing, but I love that series and I think I could really enjoy this one too.
River, River, River. I don't know why she automatically believed everything Green said. Pictures can be doctored. She married a con man, she should have been more suspicious.
Jax was an interesting character. He was quite worldly about some things for someone whose lights were only turned on a few years ago and very naive about others. He and his 'brothers' were fun when they got together. I would have liked some more humour.
I loved the secret identities, and called the main two before they were revealed. I can't wait to see what happens there.

The Lost Boys start to find a way home!!

I was captivated by the Lost Boys (as coined by the ever fabulous Ian Taggart) after we met them in Theo & Erin's book and was thrilled to see that they had their own series. Jax and River's story takes us to Bliss (the first time I read this book I hadn't read the Nights in Bliss series so this reread was great to make connections with all those fabulous characters) and I loved every minute. All the side characters are wonderful, Jax & River's story has me hooked and the jaw dropping moments that happen towards the end of this book had me clambering to read more!!

Wow

I soooo enjoyed this book. All the fun and sarcastic comments you expect from big tag. It was as great as what you expect from Lexi. I have to admit I read a review saying that masters and mercenaries was done. But that was not so. So many characters from another series. Was great.
Ryan was awesome as always at narration.

Jax and River

The Lost Boys are looking for Hope McDonalds lab in the wilderness of Bliss.
River is a trail guide and the group seek her help to find the facility.

The beginning to the story was not helpful. It gave many names that caused confusion, but keep going, it becomes clearer.
As this is the first book it deals with the experimental side of the story, which is not pretty.

A bit long winded.

It got a bit confusing with all the names at one part and it wasn't needed to get the story of the characters. A bit to long in parts which wasn't necessary. ok story.

not my cup of tea

I get that the premise of the story is unrealistic to begin with, but the painfully relayed backstory was so unrealistic, that I just couldn't continue listening. The main character seemed angry and resentful but had no depth. calling people brothers rather than using their names was weird -Especially seeing as there were so many of them.

The narrator did an ok job but wasn't very good at accents.

nope

there are so many Lexi Blake books I thought of reading but decided to give this a go. nope....not for me. when it comes to black ops I'm a Susan stoker Anna Hackett, Riley Edwards and definately the ultimate Kris Michaels kinda gal. unfortunately Lexi pales in comparison.
the 1st chapter was setting the hero in my mind but there was so many names and scenes I felt so confused and felt like I probably got a summary of a backstory....it was a brutal reckoning that gave me a semi shock type of value but it didn't have depth of the how's, why's and where's, hence I felt it was a summary of a backstory.
I got to chapter 4 and started to turn off, the history of the hero and his present day just didn't work for me. again his mind set and the heroines mind set just jumped everywhere.....
I mean deciding to talk about leaving in the middle of a very important part...(no spoilers)....nope just couldn't connect.
it's a reasonably long book, hours wise and it will probably get better but when I switch off in a black ops book that's normally an indication that something doesn't gel.
it just seemed too much too quick, like setting the whole book in record time, regardless of the depth of emotion your suppose to feel.
If it gets better then my bad.....but had to stop.
Kris Michaels has just released Jeremiah....gotta go to my fave lady.
