Publisher's Summary
"Jamie K. Schmidt is a 50-year-old female who suffers from morbid obesity. She has used multiple diets over the years, has been able to lose weight but cannot maintain the weight loss. All forms of conservative management have failed. She stands 5' 9", weight 350 lbs., and body mass index is 51.69kg/m2. This level of severe obesity has played an important role in the development of the following comorbidities: lower back pain, asthma, hypertension, obesity." (Doctor's note, 5/20/21)
This book is part memoir and part guidebook that would be helpful to anyone considering bariatric weight loss surgery. Jamie gives a brutally honest account of the year after her weight loss surgery where she lost 143 lbs. Filled with tips, advice, and emotion, this book is a must for anyone considering a gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, or a SADI-S (single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve) procedure.
If you're nervous about an upcoming surgery or are just curious what it's like, this informative book is for you!

Loved It!
I’m already a devotee of reading (listening to) peoples personal stories, and this one absolutely did not disappoint!
As someone who has struggled with their weight from an early age, it is only now in my late 50s that I have come to a better understanding of how and why I came to be at my highest weight ever, and that I am now ready to deal with it in ways I never have before.
To hear others stories that resonate with mine is highly encouraging and ‘supportive’.
I truely hope there will be follow-ups to this one.
Thoroughly enjoyable!
