Critic Reviews

Be warned . . . once you make friends with Wimsey you'll want to get better acquainted (Christopher Fowler)
The books chronicling Wimsey's adventures remain models of their kind (Barry Forshaw)
In time of dire and immediate trouble, on might well call upon a Sherlock Holmes for a quick solution to one's trials. But for the balm that reassures one about surviving the vicissitudes of life, one could do no better than to anchor onto a Lord Peter Wimsey. (Elisabeth George)

This woman is trying so hard to sound “posh English” that she is missing the meaning of the words. Emphasis in all the wrong places, quite a few mispronunciations, and unsuccessful accents anyway.

Terrible narration of a loved classic

I didn't expect to like this, but Dorothy Sayers' ability to spin a yarn and hold your attention is amazing. I'm not into short stories, but these were so well structured and engaging, that once it's over, you find yourself reaching for the next one. Clearly a talented writer, and incredibly inventive. How did she come up with those plots. And she never fails to surprise. Highly recommend, even if it is a bit old fashioned.

I enjoyed every story

Enjoyable and a delight. Forgotten so many of the tales! Wonderful to hear them read well.

Loved it. Many stories I hadn't read for 40 years.

Hate the reader’s approach it is over excitable, with words erratically emphasized in an unpleasant voice. The attempts at character voices inconsistent and unnatural. She doesn’t serve the narrative well.

Appalling reading
