About this listen

When a simple mix-up leaves their father Joe’s estate to Eden, their long-absent mother, Clare and Aaron decide it’s finally time to track Eden down. But it’s been over thirty years since she left their remote outback mining town, and they’ve never heard from her again.

Aaron is dealing with a new marriage that’s currently trapped in immigration limbo, and his teenage daughter Cady is clearly going through a personal crisis of her own. After decades away, Clare has flown home from New York for Joe’s funeral, leaving her high-powered job and her not-quite-fiancé behind for what she thinks will be a short trip.

Neither Aaron or Clare are prepared for a fight for their inheritance against the mother who abandoned them as children. As they dig through years of secrets and lies in their tiny community to uncover the truth about Eden and Joe, will they notice the more immediate danger that threatens their family?

Fantastic must-read! Way to start 2023

I loved this book!! I hadn’t read (listened to) this author before, but this was absolutely fantastic. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, I loved the characters, and I loved the twist. I didn’t see it coming, which is rare for me!
Truly a fantastic book. What a great way to start 2023
Thank you Caroline! I’m a new fan - going back to listen to your other stuff

Very engaging.

What a well written story with stories within stories interesting with some surprising elements. Narration was the best.

The ending was not what was expected but did have a niggle of an idea earlier in the book. All in all highly recommended for all.

Excellent

This was a real
Surprise and I was thoroughly invested for the whole story! Only one negative..... I felt that the end came very fast after such a long drawn out and descriptive story

OK but not great

Simple story well split into chapters - bit rushed at the end. Very good readers throughout

Wrapped up in a hurry

I was enjoying the story line then all of a sudden it swung off on a different tangent & was done. Disappointing ending
