About this listen
In my memoir, which goes beyond my life to hopefully share useful insights into the world of writing, publishing, and book promotion, you'll meet some of the famous and infamous people I have interviewed over the years, including the brilliant puppeteer Jim Henson, at his unique office in Manhattan, as well as my meeting in Heidelberg, Germany with Albert Speer, who was the Minister of Armaments and War Production in Nazi Germany during World War II.
I also share what I experienced and learned during the amazing year I spent when I was 25 working alongside the legendary founder of Grove Press, Barney Rosset. I learned all aspects of publishing, followed by the years getting advanced degrees, including an MA in criminal justice and a PhD in sociology, decades as an academic teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at a number of colleges and universities, and publishing with major houses such as Scribner, Doubleday, Simon & Schuster, and Wiley, as well as founding my own small press, Hannacroix Creek Books, Inc.
About the author: Jan is an adjunct associate professor in the sociology department of John Jay College of Criminal Justice. A book coach and workshop leader, Jan's been on several cross-country and three international author tours to Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout the UK.
