5 frigginng deserving stars
I cried, and cried and swooned and cried and loved how much humanity Kennedy Ryan breathed into this story. The poetic and hypnotic way of story telling took me into the dark depths of hells some women are trapped in, others never managed escape to before paying with their lives and also the beauty that is luck when you fall into the arms of someone who loves and cherishes you. She pays homage to the roots shunned about the black culture when priestesses are mentioned and practises that give black people a shrine that has been taken from us but still thrives, there's power just beneath the surface.

AWESOME
This is such a cute story! I was a bit wary and worried that I would be left with the female protagonist ending in a torn situation between two men, but this was so not like that. There will be one person you want Iris to end up with and everyone else will have the same want. The love story is one of my favourites, I swear, it was adorable I just felt so happy by the end of this. There are some possible triggers in this story but if you are ok with that and think you might like this, I would definitely give this a go. I listened to this as an audiobook and loved the narration, but also just how the story was written. Both were amazing and I hope you decide to read this. Enjoy!

Great book, but it was hard on my emotions
I read the blurb at the start so knew about the trigger warnings, but man, this was hard to read. Had to put it down on several occasions to compose myself. So well written (if from personal experience, I'm so sorry), fantastic narration, and a great ending. Justice prevailed. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Great story, pace and narration - especially for a free read! Had never heard of this author but based on the style and quality will definitely look for her others!

Wow - hard to listen to harder to put down!
This story was incredible, it's intense and I had to stop every now and again because the content is so confronting, but I couldn't stop listening for long. I just HAD to know what happened in the end, the author had me so emotionally invested in Iris' story! The performance sent chills through my body in both a good and bad way depending on what was happening in the story - incredibly done! Should come with a trigger warning as it is very full on. Definitely opened a window to what some people could be dealing with behind closed doors.

This book has it all, it’s pure devastation to pure bliss. I loved it and I cannot recommend it enough but be warned, read the triggers warnings.

It’s heavy but beautiful!
I was not expecting this type of story TWs SA and DV it was heavy and hard to read sometimes but I really enjoyed it. A real eye opener to victims of DV and the psychological trauma /cage the perpetrators lock them in

Magnificent
5⭐️ Kennedy Ryan, this is a masterpiece.
I am not sure I will ever find the right words to describe the experience of reading this book. It was visceral. Suffocating. Crushing. Brutal. Hopeful. Healing. Beautiful. Freeing.
I knew all the CW’s going in, but I was not expecting to LIVE IT with Iris to this extent. It was deeply difficult to read, but it would have been harder to look away.
This was stunning, I will absolutely be reading everything this author has written—but I will need pace myself. I couldn’t pick up a book this heavy very often.
Proceed with caution—this is magnificent, but not something to pick up on a whim.

Tear Jerker
This book had all the feels. My tears flowed freely with the heavy content. It was well written. The story was heart breaking and healing all at the same time. The narration only added to the sorrow I felt as I read. At the end I was exhausted and overwhelmed, I needed a couple of days to get over it.
