Publisher's Summary

Lockwood & Co. might be the smallest (some might say shambolic) Psychic Detection Agency in London. But its three agents - Lockwood, Lucy and George - are exceptional talents. And they get results. When an outbreak of ghostly phenomena grows to terrifying levels in Chelsea, Scotland Yard is left baffled. Even more baffling is that Lockwood & Co appear to have been excluded from the huge team of agents investigating the Chelsea Outbreak.

Surely this is the perfect chance for them to show once and for all that they're actually the best in town? Well, that's if they can put aside their personal differences for long enough to march into action with their rapiers, salt and iron....

Ghouls and spectres, thrills and tension in this brand-new instalment in Jonathan Stroud's best-selling series.

Chilling, emotional, gripping.

The cliffhangers!
This story was a whirlwind - it is by far the scariest, crepiest and oh my gosh the overall arc of the story has me on the edge of my seat.

Off to start book

Best book so far, loving the 'verse

Emily Bevan was my favourite narrator mainly because she has beautifully captured George and Holly. Glad she is on the next two.

Good story, not so good narrator

Found the narrator hard to listen too. Her character voices were, sorry to say, silly. The story itself is good tho and I look forward to the next book.

Best book of the series so far

The narrator does a brilliant job bringing the characters and story to life. The author has done a great job developing the characters personalities and I love his descriptiveness. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story

Amazing story poor narration

Great story! But changing narrator between books makes it feel disconnected and this voice actor makes lockwood sound like a moron. Definitely not impressed with there voices.

Great reading, gripping, exciting

I was initially put off by the change in reader.. suddenly my characters had gone from an English accent to a Scottish one, but this new reader was superb, such a variety of accents to represent each of the characters and hints of Professor McGonagall shining through at times made this story! Gripping, an excellent plot, some more delving into the characters past. Loved it.

The characters are stupid, yet realistic.

Honestly, i was groaning at this book so much, not because the writing was bad, but because the CHARACTERS were being stupid. I loved it.

It's honestly surprised how a middle aged man can so accurately describe the innermost thoughts of a teenage girl.

But overall, it was really good. I also loved the narrator. They were also very good.
