About this listen

I’ve spent years hoping someone would finally hear me. It’s easier not to try anymore....

10 years after leaving his small Minnesota hometown in his rear view mirror for what Nolan Grainger was sure would be the last time, life has decided to throw the talented musician a curveball and send him back to the town he lived in but was never really home.

At 28, Nolan has traveled the world as a successful concert violinist with some of the best symphonies in the country. But success breeds envy, and when Nolan’s benefactor and lover decides Nolan has flown high enough, he cruelly clips Nolan’s wings. The betrayal and ensuing scandal leaves the violinist’s career in shambles and with barely enough money to start fresh somewhere beyond his vindictive ex’s powerful reach. But just as he’s ready to get his life back on track, Nolan gets the call he’s been dreading.

After a stroke leaves his father a partial invalid, duty-bound Nolan returns to Pelican Bay and a life he’s spent years trying to forget. When he’s forced to use the last of his own money to keep from losing the family home, desperation has him turning to the one man he’d hoped never to see again....

Even if I could speak, there wouldn’t be anyone there to listen....

OMG

Loved this story -such an emotional roller coaster that when I reached the end I felt physically drained. The two main characters had true love from the beginning even though life events kept happening. Having animals in the mix hooked me but when Gentry was attacked I was crying so hard that I had to take my glasses off to be able to keep reading.
on the bases of this story I just have to read next in series.

Story of Nolan and Dallas

This is childhood crush to more hurt/comfort romance, featuring Nolan Grainger and Dallas Kent, and is the first book in the Pelican Bay series.

Dallas was supposed to leave Pelican Bay after high school on a fully ride scholarship to college, but right before he was about to get out of that small town, he was involved in a car accident which saw his mother not surviving, his father ending up in a wheelchair and left Dallas with injuries that robbed him of his future and his voice. The town unjustly blames him for the accident and the death of his parents.

Nolan’s world had kind of implodes too, he is accused of stealing something and his reputation in the music world as a violinist is in disrepair. Nolan returns home ten years after he escaped to college, to help look after his ill father. He soon realises he needs a job to help pay off his parents piling debt and, after running into his childhood crush, Dallas, at the animal shelter earlier in the week, approaches him for a job.

This story is so well written. It’s angsty, sad, heart breaking, heart warming and oh so moving. Nolan and Dallas have been through so much but they end up finding each other and through their emotional connection, heal each other and make each other stronger and with this strength they face the gossip and injustices together. (Not going to spoil it).

I am completely hooked to reading this series now and can’t wait to start book two.

Things to expect in this MM romance are:
1st book in series
Childhood crush to more
Small town
Social injustice
Violinist x Animal shelter owner
Size difference
Book lover MC
Mute MC
Hurt / Comfort
Past trauma
Bit spicy
Swoony HEA

OMG! amazing, beautiful, heartwarming...

I couldn't get enough. The story is so beautiful. I laughed, I cried and I opened my heart to these beautifully broken characters. Amazing writing Sloane. I loved it! As deep and moving as Mia Sheridan's Achers Voice. A highly recommended read!!!!

fantastic

the nerdy bullied musician and the broken, animal wildlife shelter owner, former darling of the town. both falsely accused of crimes they did not commit. both struggling to put their lives together, meet as adults, and struggle with their pasts to create a new future.
