Publisher's Summary

Little Fur is very old, though she looks more like a four-year-old child. She is half elf and half troll, and she lives in her very own wilderness, a patch of park, within the city where the humans live. Little Fur is distressed by what the humans are doing to her patch of wilderness, they are burning trees, and she must go on a perilous journey to prevent her precious home from being destroyed. She enlists the help of her friends: Brownie the shaggy Shetland pony, Crow the crow, and the Sett Owl.

This is a story full of magic and wonder, of unforgettable characters and exciting adventures.

Editorial reviews

This fantasy tale with strong ecological themes will delight young listeners who love nature and woodland creatures. Little Fur is a red-headed half elf/half troll, the size of a three-year-old human, who takes care of the animals around her. But when she learns that humans are about to start burning the forest down, she embarks on a quest to stop them. With well-developed characters drawn from the natural world (the crow is particularly memorable), The Legend of Little Fur is an enjoyable, high-quality tale. Isobelle Carmody's voice is sweet enough for young ears, but capable of being loud and forceful when necessary.

Critic Reviews

"Little Fur is an endearing little creature....The novel reads as a gentle fable that children from eight to 10 will enjoy." (Australian Bookseller & Publisher)

Earth magix….

A tale of a diverse n motley but trusty crew circled with Little Fur, to save the Old Ones and their relative Trees. Read by the author, which enlivens the speaking. This big kid loves the story as much as the wee ones I’ve shared it with….

A gentle listen

Any additional comments?

I purchased this when my daughter was 6 and she had little interest as this requires some attention and listening to, but we tried it again 6 months later and she enjoyed it very much. I would definitely give this one a go for those that enjoy a more gentle story.
