About this listen

Is it possible to listen without judgment? Is it possible to be a human in a relationship that does not include dominance or submission? Listen Like a Horse is a narrative story about the time and interactions shared by Kerri and Cooper, a gifted gelding whose playful communications had been misunderstood and handled with dominance. Infused with perspectives and tools of communication between horses and people, the story invokes and reveals awareness and insight for relationships not just with animals, but with other people and within ourselves. There are so many paths to enlightenment that have been taught throughout the eons of human existence. But with every path, with every teaching, there is a time when we are invited to step beyond our teachings, to step beyond the comfort of the systems that supported us, and enter a whole new conversation.

Prepare yourself for a journey

This book takes you inside the eye and introduces you to the mind of an owner and her horse. It's more personal than factual although there are facts mentioned. Every time facts were mentioned, I experienced no jerk in my gathering and absorbing of the relationship, because every time, it was purely added information being shared in the context to enhance the moment.
It's well written, it's being lived and it's genuinely being shared with us the readers/listeners.
It's personal and the whole experience has come from one who has a deep understanding of what's behind the silly superficial norm we get fed as a substitute for truth today. I've seen for myself that in life today, if you want to extract some warmth from the spreading coldness, you yourself have to stop, look and listen. Inside the silent eye of the horse, or any animal for that matter, or person, lies a world of experience and reaction that when blended together, create an individual personality. Knowing each other under these circumstances is what is missing today. Listen to how it's done. Okay, it's done with a horse, but this rubs off, or at least it has with me. I look at people differently now too. Somehow I feel freer because I finished this book. I am about to start it again and I also bought the kindle version. This is like entering another world and it happens to be one that I'm choosing to make my future normal now, it was that beautiful. Soft, gently, caring, genuine, attentive, patient mutual relating. I feel more equip to face things now. Fortunately, I volunteer with horses at the moment and have tried and proved this to be so. What I loved the most was the fact that I approached the horses in the same natural way, 3 weeks before I sort a book on horses out. I was however, told to do the opposite. I was told to show them who is boss, but something didn't feel right and it was because I connected with the eye of the horse and it spoke to me deeply also.
You won't be disappointed with this book even if you're not into horses. Not if you absorb the overall gentleness of the technique of how to connect, listen and relate in return.
