About this listen
Growing up a military brat and spending eight years overseas with the Army Medical Corps, clinical social worker, Willa Smith, has had enough of rules and regulations. Still able to work with veterans as she did at the VA Hospital, she is much happier at the new and far more relaxed South Avenue Shelter, until one of its residents is implicated in a murder.
Former military turned security operative, Dimas Mazur, has worked for PASS security, his brother’s company, since he returned stateside after a disabling injury. The job keeps him busy, but when a homeless veteran he knows runs into trouble with the law, he doesn’t hesitate to jump in. The strong-headed counselor at the shelter where his friend stayed is an unexpected bonus.
Until she puts herself square in the sights of the man he’s trying to take down.

better than book 1
I'm so enjoying Freya's writing. she had ne guessing in book 2 and now this one has just thrown me a curve ball. didn't see it coming. love that there isn't any push pull between the H and h and its just the feeling and connection that brings them together..and eventually love, respect and trust.
great action and angst and these girls are awesome and sassy.
love the military side that adds emotion and the ptsd side to give us feelings toward the alphas. this story had more depth than book 1 with a touch of family drama..
the topic addressed is a tad sensitive without tearing your insides out but just as important. the pace was good, and the steam a touch more than book 1. freya barker tied everything up nicely and as usual the FBI seemed to be the aggravation ...again.
only drawback i experienced is the h's sisters name. connie. i thought freya had used that name as the h's mother in book 1. and then the brad and the brant got me confused I had to kinda concentrate. nevertheless, really enjoyed this story. on to book 3 😁
