About this listen
Mortuary technician Cassie Raven believes the last thoughts of the dead linger like static in the air....
Cassie has always had a strange affinity with death, ever since her parents were killed in a car crash when she was four. At least that's what she grew up believing....
But that was a lie. Cassie's father is alive. He was convicted of murdering her mother and spent years behind bars. Now he's out—and he's looking for her.
He swears he didn't do it. And Cassie wants to believe him.
To find the truth, she must turn detective. As she seeks answers, help is to be found in inexplicable places—for the dead are ready to talk.

Great female characters - original crime series
Lovely to discover a fresh approach to crime via the stories of punky mortuary assistant Cassie Raven and her unofficial partner, DS Phillida Flyte.
The characterisation is a cut above the average with interesting and original backstories for each of the female leads - and what sounds like credible medical information adding depth to investigations. This book, like the one before, was a joy to listen to.
i also enjoyed the reader. She's a good story teller, albeit a little posh. She obviously can't do Irish accents, and so didn't even bother. i preferred this avoidance to the mangled attempts of other readers.
The only slip up was use of that annoying device where someone at risk choses to ignore urgent text messages coming in from their partner. But all in all another great story with lots of juicy morgue detail, presented with great sensitivity through the empathetic Cassie.
