About this listen
Millie Ashton thinks London society is full of empty headed, arrogant fools, but when she meets Alex Radley she falls desperately in love with him. Fearing humiliation and rejection, she decides the only sensible thing to do is take her pride and go home to India. Men like Alex do not fall for girls like her, whereas every girl loses her heart to Alexander the Great. Alex Radley, Marquess of Brooke rules the ton like a god, but even gods are known to fall for mere mortals. With his wealth and title, wooing Millie should be an easy task. But when his passionate love letter to her goes astray, Alex’s life becomes more than a little complicated.

Very enjoyable story
I did like this book, and might read it again one day. I appreciated the way brotherly support was featured, but although their complex intersecting backgrounds must have been extremely tricky for each brother, it was mostly glossed over. I guess that is in keeping with this genre, so no further complaints about the story. The narration was fine in most ways, but sometimes the written dialogue was spoken in such a way that the character’s spontaneous utterances were oddly flat. There are also some irritating mispronunciations: e.g. the narrator always pronounces ‘Livery’ (I.e. Uniform) to rhyme with ‘ Lively’, instead of with ‘liver’. These are issues the editor and producer could address … to support the end product.
