About this listen

A top ten Sunday Times bestselling author

From award-winning author Jane Casey comes a powerful crime thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page…

A murder without a body
Eighteen-year-old Chloe Emery returns to her West London home one day to find the house covered in blood and Kate, her mother, gone. There may not be a body, but everything else points to murder.

A girl too scared to talk
Maeve Kerrigan is young, ambitious and determined to prove she’s up to her new role as detective sergeant. She suspects Chloe is holding something back, but best friend Bethany Norris won’t let Maeve get close. What exactly is Bethany protecting Chloe from?

A detective with everything to prove
As the team dig deeper into the residents of Valerian Road, no one is above suspicion. All Maeve needs is one person to talk, but that’s not going to happen. Because even in a case of murder, some secrets are too terrible to share…

Critic Reviews

"A tremendous sense of suspense." (Sunday Times)

"I was utterly gripped by Let the Dead Speak, a plotting masterpiece, and am in awe of its sheer pace and drive." (Susie Steiner, author of best seller Missing, Presumed)

"Casey is a true craftswoman, a writer who beguiles one through the most twisted of plots with a confident and seductive hand. Let the Dead Speak is sharp, complex and gripping to the very end." (Alex Marwood, best-selling author of Wicked Girls and The Killer Next Door)

Absolutely fabulous crime writer just getting better

Thoroughly enjoyed yet another clever story by Jane Casey. Plausible plot that keeps you guessing combined with my favourite detectives and a fantastic narrator is audible experience at its best. Loved it!

Love Jane Casey’s writing

I wish I hadent started at the end and worked backwards. Caroline Lennon is a terrific narrator and does voices really well.
But I hate the last scene. That rotten rob and his blue eyes.

best audio book yet

The most enjoyable audio book I have listened to yet. The plot gets a bit OTT at the end but still really a great listen. Had me from the first chapter.

Not my favourite in the series

Not my favourite Maeve Kerrigan book. Felt the story wasn't as plausible but it was an easy listen. Narration as good as ever though. Still looking forward to the next installment in the series.

Good read but let down by lead characters

The crime story is ok but the Derwent/Kerrigan thing was mismatched to previous stories and really let down the thread of previous books. After all the things they have been through together it’s probably time she stopped whining about him and saying he can’t be trusted and she doesn’t like him - irritating. His domestic bliss is a bit odd too.

Great read

Not the best book in the series. Rob broke my heart again though! Love Josh’ character, he’s so protective of Maeve. I hope Maeve gets some thrill back in to her life though in the next book.
