About this listen

When the ruling class commoditizes the organs of the desperate, who will stop them?

When Darren O'Reilly's daughter is found murdered with her kidney extracted, he refuses to believe the police's explanation that Egyptian immigrant Ubaid Almasi has murdered her.

His quest for the truth reaches the ears of Bruce McQuillan, the leader of the shadowy Chameleon Project. The stakes rise as a conspiracy of seismic proportions begins to reveal itself, Bruce realizes he needs a man of exceptional skill and ruthlessness. He needs a predator who can move freely within the criminal underworld.

He needs Connor Reed.

Liking the Conner Reed Series

I have read two Conner Reed series books so far in order and enjoyed the stories in both. I was however very disappointed with the change in narrator for Lessons in Blood. While I enjoyed Mike Rogers reading in The Bootneck I almost stopped listening to Lee Beddow in Lessons in Blood mid way through the book. I struggled with his stilted speech and atrocious accents, sometimes not understanding who was speaking at times as a Bruce McQuillan’s accent changed and the Peruvian IT specialists accent was horrendous! Stick to producing please and let an expert read the stories.
I note there is a new reader for the third book which I’m about to start

Good yarn but a bit all over the place

Quite a gripping story if a bit hard to follow from time to time. Worth a listen.

Bring Back Mike Rogers

The narrator change bad it a bit of a mission to listen to.

His lack of understanding of basic military terms was disappointing. Corp has a silent p, this being just one example.

I couldn't listen all the way through. I might read the book instead.

Different approach to the usual spy-cloak and dagger story. Refreshingly different.

The story line was great and kept me wanting to listen but the narrator does an average job performing different accents and genders. All in all, a good listen

Poor Narration

The accents by the narrator were unbearable. The narrator in book 1 was way more suited to the characters.
