Leonora Kristina (1621-1698) var Christian den fjerdes yndlingsdatter, men hendes skæbne blev grum og dramatisk. Bogen fortæller om hendes liv fra barndommen til hendes død. Vi hører om hendes forhold til sin far og ægteskabet med den kontroversielle rigsgreve Corfitz Ulfeldt, som førte til hendes fængsling i Blåtårn som medskyldig i højforræderi. Hans Frederik Ewald (1821-1908) var en dansk forfatter, der blandt andet skrev en lang række historiske romaner. Han udgav blandt andet romanen "Svenskerne på Kronborg" i 1867 efter et ophold i Helsingør og vandt ligeledes stor anerkendelse for sine sociale romaner. H.F. Ewald er far til forfatterne Theodor og Carl Ewald.
