About this listen

The Legacy Series boxed set includes all four books in the series full of nonstop action with unexpected twists, adventure, humor, and flirty romance.

Double-Sided Magic (Book 1)

Once my kind were the hunters - now we are the hunted.

Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a Legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory - instead it comes with a death sentence.

I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it. I live a simple and somewhat normal life. Everything’s going fine until a dangerous and enchanted dagger that was once in my possession is stolen. I didn’t think things could get any worse until I woke up next to three dead supernaturals without any memory of the past 24 hours.

Considered guilty of murder by most of the magical community and humans, I must work with Gareth, the sexy and dangerous leader of the Supernatural Guild. If he’s as good as rumored, it’s only a matter of time until he discovers the truth about me - then being found guilty of murder is the least of my worries.

Obsidian Magic (Book 2)

I’m a Legacy - a secret I’d planned on taking to my grave. Gareth, the enigmatic leader of the Supernatural Guild, knows it, but can I trust him to keep it? When mysterious deaths occur as a result of magic that mimics my own, I no longer have to worry about Gareth exposing me - it will be one of my own that does. Another Legacy is causing the chaos, and I’m forced to hunt my own kind. It seems simple, but we’ve existed for as long as we have because we’re better hunters than prey.

I’m forced to work with Gareth to clear my name and find the Legacy responsible. Not only is my secret about to be revealed - so is his. Gareth is much more dangerous than I expected. Is he my friend or my enemy?

Renegade Magic (Book 3)

I’ve been outed as a Legacy and there’s nothing I can do but deal with the aftermath. I thought I could handle it - I was wrong. The city is in chaos, and I have more enemies than allies. Some that I once called allies have quickly become my betrayers.

Just when I didn’t think things could get any worse, Conner resurfaces and he’s ready to make everyone pay. Especially me. He’s the least of my worries: a supernatural assassin has been brought in to kill all the Legacy - and he’s good at his job. One by one we are being killed off. Gareth, my only true ally, has his own problems dealing with another group that is set on ridding the world of supernaturals. Unless I can get the assassin before he gets me and Gareth can stop an organization bent on xenophobic destruction, we don’t stand a chance in hell of surviving this.

Rouge Magic (Book 4)

My best friend has been abducted by a madman who seems to have returned from the dead with the sole goal of seeking revenge against me. She’s my friend, but she’s also essential in finding a cure for a virus that has the potential to destroy the supernatural world.

Did I mention there’s a war brewing between supernaturals and humans? My people, the Legacy, were responsible for the first supernatural war, and now I’m tasked with preventing the second.

Great boxset

Great to have all 4 books together. Started strong but was disappointed in the last instalment. There was a subplot that just didn't seem to go anywhere instead a plot out of nowhere was added, some of the characters reactions seemed lack luster & some of the fight scenes seem too short. But did like the overall arc of the stories & Stacey Glemboski did I great narration.

Legacy Series

The series was quite good. Performance was brilliant but the story was too repetitive.

Enjoyed the twists and turns

Struggled to get into the story, then became hooked. The series provided an escape from real life, laughter and romance. I will miss the characters.

One book too long

A decent story and well written, but I found it incredibly tedious by the end. It was ‘surprise encounter with her enemy, insults, fight, escape’ - repeat over and over and over... and over.

The narrator was very good, but whilst she does great voices, her actual narration does not vary much, no matter what the situation. A bit more emotion or change in pacing during the exciting places could be used.

Like butter scraped over too much bread

I have to concede that I think I'm not the target audience here, but I don't think it matters when it comes to my issues with the story.
I came here because of the narrator, fresh off a different series. She performs not as well in this, but it's still perfectly fine. I can't help but feel the writing may have more to do with that than anything.

Main character has a lot of 'witty observations' which have their place but seriously undercut any tension during fights or confrontations with villains. This combined with a wide variety of abilities which trivialize injury mean the stakes feel low all the time.
This makes it feel like the romantic 'subplot' is the main story because there's a bit more to invest in. Which means when 'will they won't they' becomes 'they did' the rest of the series begins to feel very tired. I actually had a break from this after the umpteenth time the villain turns up, monologues and escapes, but I managed to finish it all, random subplot and all.

dnf, but I really, really tried

plot score 2- the plot was half-@ssed at best, most of the connecting plot drivers that the author used to move the story along was barely flushed out and most felt like it was coming out of left field. The little tidbits of details the fmc used to connect the dots to "whodunnit" and the effort used to add mystery to the story was juvenile at best. The romance was super forced. The descriptors used to accentuate action scenes made me want to eye-roll and the word "sai" was used a million times (sorry, exaggerated).

narrator score 3- voice is easy to listen to, but not sure if it is because of the poor writing or lack of enthusiasm on the narrators' part, but the story was delivered in such a flat tone. poor delivery of accents.

I don't understand why this book series was so highly rated, but it was not for me. Maybe some would truly enjoy it and it's nice that this was offered as a boxset because each book is not worth a credit each.

Inconsistent characters behaviour

Only good thing from this is the narrator. she did a good job with her voices for different characters. The bad thing is the entire storyline and characters. Repetitive lines and Inconsistent behaviour of some casts that made me either roll my eyes or cringe with frustration. Not worth the time and credit spent.
