About this listen
A ground-breaking novel about fathers and daughters, the history we can’t change and the future that we can.
Simone Harlowe is a young Indigenous lawyer, straddling two lives and two cultures while studying for her Masters at Harvard. Her family life in Sydney is defined by the complex relationship she has with her father Tony, a prominent and respected figure in the Aboriginal community. As Simone juggles the challenges of a modern woman’s life—career, family, friends and relationships—her father is confronting his own uncomfortable truths as his secret double life implodes. Can Simone accept him for the man he is and forgive him for the man he’s not?
From the award-winning author of Home comes a novel about a young woman and her father, the lies that divide them, and the acceptance that paves the road home.

Multiple legacies
I really enjoyed this book, the historical context, the depth of the characters, the strong dramatic events ( both suicides), the sense of humour. I think Larissa Berendt is a masterful writer mixing her legal expertise with her personal emotional life in the context of Aboriginal culture.

Superb narration, unforgettable characters, plenty to reflect upon for days afterwards. I really enjoyed the depth created in characters as they interact with one another creating their own unique stories.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!
While I enjoyed Home, I loved Legacy. I wish I had a Patricia in my life. Narrator was brilliant, beautifully capturing the intonations to evoke the differences between the characters. Have now purchased After Story to listen to. Will then buy the collection in print. Thank you so much Larissa Behrendt!

Fantastic
This is the second book by Larissa Behrendt I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. She writes so well ,incorporating insights into the lives of our modern indigenous peoples Her story line for both books kept me engaged until the very end
The narrator also was really good , it took a couple of chapters for me to get used to her, but I did, and really loved the way she told the story
A must read for anyone in this year of voting in the referendum for the Voice

Another fabulous book from Behrendt
Really enjoy how Behrendt weaves law and literature into tales of aboriginal history.
I now have a list of books to read after listening to her characters critiques.
She is so good at relaying relationships and her characters are very believable.
Narration great also.
