Publisher's Summary
Two friends find a golden nugget on the ground. A young girl meets a fox spirit. A dog saves a life, a tiger takes a life. A girl runs away from her fishing boat. And a boy saves the spirit of his grandfather.
These six wonderful folk tales are based on stories told by Norman Hinsdale Pitman in A Chinese Wonder Book, originally published in 1918. Pitman collected and published several collections of folk tales and other Chinese books. We have taken the liberty of retelling all six stories to be appropriate for a modern audience, and to use a limited vocabulary, most of which are in the standard 1200-word HSK4 vocabulary.
This audiobook contains the stories told in "slow Chinese" by a native Chinese narrator. The pinyin and English versions of the stories from the original paperback are not included in this audiobook.
These stories are written by the best-selling writing team of Jeff Pepper and Xiao Hui Wang, authors of the Journey to the West series of graded readers, translations of Chinese classics including the Dao De Jing, the Art of War and the San Zi Jing, and lots of other great books.
