Should be sold with all Bibles.

It put so many questions into perspective I could bring a lot of questions and answers together...it makes so much more sense. I made this book a study ‘bible’

More dogmatic than scholarly

I was looking for a literary treatment of the New Testament, to better understand one the founding texts of Western civilization.

Missler however explicitly caters towards those who believe in Jesus and the Christian God. This made it pretty much a non-starter for me. He spends the whole first hour confirming his own biases as a means of attempting to demonstrate the veracity of Christianity. Given that I was looking for a simple description/explanation of the stories of the NT and how the document holds together historically, and not an evangelical trying to convince me that his mythology is in fact a faithful representation of reality, I had to return this one.

So if you're interested in the Bible purely for its literary qualities, and not as a vessel of some sort of divine Truth, you're probably gonna want to look elsewhere.
