Publisher's Summary

With Paul Noble’s simple, relaxed approach you will learn in a way that suits you – without having to memorise long lists of words you won’t use, scribbling notes as you listen, or feeling frustrated. Instead, Paul will introduce you to the basics of the German language and guide you through over 12 hours of everyday scenarios – from simple situations like asking for directions and eating out to talking about yourself and how to master the different tenses – that are practical, fun, and applicable. Just listen, interact, and learn wherever you are.

Whatever your experience with languages, whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone with basic knowledge who wants to improve their ability, this is the course to get you speaking German quickly, confidently, and with no chance of failure.

A native-speaking German expert will help you to perfect your pronunciation as you progress through the course. You will learn a huge range of vocabulary in no time at all, and be able to quickly make your new knowledge work for you in a variety of everyday scenarios. A downloadable booklet is also included to use as a reference and revision tool.

Paul Noble left school unable to speak a language – having found that the traditional learning methods left him feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. Determined that there must be a better way to learn, Paul spent years devising his own unique method of learning languages which cuts out all the grammar, all the memorisation, and all the stress. He began using his method to teach in his Language Institute and, thousands of students later, he prides himself on never having had a student fail.

This download contains the entire course – Parts 1, 2, and 3. To continue your language learning journey once you’ve completed this course, download Next Steps in German with Paul Noble for Intermediate Learners – Complete Course.

best book for beginners or even just above level

great way to learn, I love his soothing voice and calm nature to learning, I find 30 minutes or 1hr of this giving 100 percent brain power is a great workout and awesome learning experience, anything above that some of your answer start taking too long (especially if you're doing something whilst listening)

Great starter

I started using Duolingo, but found that making the time available a challenge. This audio book solved my time challenge as I listen in the car and also accelerated my understanding of tenses and usage of basic German as compared to DuoLingo and other paid courses I have had for years. I’m moving onto the intermediate book - great resource.

Excellent for a beginner like me!

My bestie is German and after 20 years of friendship I've decided to finally learn German. This has been a great introduction - Paul is an excellent teacher and I really enjoyed his teaching style. I'm now excited to go onto the Next Steps book!

As advertised!

After learning heaps of vocab in other courses and getting nowhere with conversations, I feel so much more confident now expressing myself. Great resource!

Prefect pace

I found the pace of this book perfect. I listened to this book on chair lifts while snowboarding and practiced the phrases while skiing down, a very enjoyable way to learn a language.

Perfect for daily revision / practice

I spent a bit of time living in Germany and took 2 months of intensive language classes while there, so I'm not a total beginner. However, a typical language class in Berlin brings together learners from all over the world - Japan, Italy, Argentina, Australia etc. So, it's unfair to those who don't speak English as their first language to receive instruction in class in both English and German. Teachers sometimes do revert to English to explain something, but generally they use the immersion method, which means you follow along to everything in German. This can be challenging for a beginner without a basic foundation in the language first and I'm not convinced of the method for beginners - it's just more efficient to explain grammar rules for example, in the language you already understand.

What Paul Noble stresses here is that if you speak English you already know some German. He helps English speakers to identify patterns in English that are similiar or recognisable in German. This is fantastic! Or should I say, fantastisch. ;) These shortcuts to vocabulary are so helpful. I'm also enjoying practicising speaking / pronunciation which you don't always get to do enough of in class, and to be honest, it can be intimidating in a group setting. Even though I'm familiar with most of the words used here so far, I am learning new ways to approach German and deepening my understanding of grammar. I'll definitely be moving onto the intermediate course once I'm done with this one.
