About this listen
Paradise can be hell.
Most people would say being stranded in the villa of Spanish shipping magnate Miguel García Arquero on the beautiful isle of Ibiza wasn't such a bad deal. But Hudson Barber isn't one of them. To him, being stuck without a passport in a foreign country far from home is a nightmare, made worse by the fact that the person who did the stranding was his flighty twin brother.
Unwilling to turn Dalvon in for identity theft, Hudson is forced to wait, but meanwhile he discovers the chance to rehabilitate Miguel's failing local businesses - enterprises left to Dalvon's inexperienced care. The flagging ventures are a badly wrapped gift from heaven, and if Hudson can turn them around, he might be able to leverage the experience to finish his MBA.
Then Miguel returns to Ibiza, and instead of finding a boy toy, he discovers Hudson has turned his cold villa into a warm, welcoming home. Miguel's path is clear: convince Hudson to lay down his defenses and let love in.

Loved the Book, Disliked the Narration
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I'm sorry to say this as narrators in general do the very best they can to meet the expectations of both the authors and their fans, but maybe a different narrator would have done a better job.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
At first I thought that the speed on the narration was off as words kept being drawn out and overemphasised, but when I speed up the audio it just made even the character parts he did do well sound bad. I was hard put to listen through to the end and this was just sad as I have listened to him narrate other books and he has given an enjoyable listening experience. I just wish I knew what went wrong here.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
This is a classic example of Mary Calmes style and I love reading her stories. The narration of the characters voices was the one part that I enjoyed listening to.
Any additional comments?
This is the only time I've been disappointed in the narration of one of her books so I will, as always, wait with impatience for the next of her books to be made into audio format :) !

I loved the story but...
I read this story first and thoroughly enjoyed it so bought the audio on special. Unfortunately the cadence of the reading is really jarring and made it impossible to fully enjoy and get lost the book. I did like the voices and the way the phone conversations were done it was just the constant emphasis on the last word of every sentence that I hate to say drive me nuts. Love this story I would just recommend listening to the preview before purchase.
