Ever thrilling ride
Another cracking action packed novel by one of Australia's Premiere Writers. I never thought a plant could be so thrilling.
Loads of action and many laughs along the way.
Do yourself a favour and grab any one of Tony Park's Novels and you'll be hooked.

No Wilbur Smith but ...
Tony Park has big shoes to fill writing in the shadow of Wilbur Smith and it shows. His storyline is flimsy at best but does entertain.
I didn't really get the feel of Africa in his books. It might just as well have been based in Bondi Beach. His characters were wooden at best and his two female heroes were identical in every respect (beautiful, blonde, gun toting, kick ass, bad ass) except one was slightly older than the other. I couldn't work out who was who until half way through the book.
The narrator struggled with the accents and her voice was so candy floss sweet that when she had to yell out the profanities and expletives (of which there was no shortage), it just felt so ... potty-mouthed!
The saving grace is that Tony Park clearly knows one end of a gun from the other and his action scenes rip along at one hundred miles and hour in good old fashioned 'Boy's Own' style. One of the two female blondes (I couldn't work out which) effortlessly dispatched an entire army of Jihadi baddies to their graves without a single lock of her lustrous hair falling out of place. I loved the brilliant twist where Sonja's boyfriend (or it could have been Joanne's boyfriend) stumbled upon an ageing jet fighter in the bush. Really handy when you have a bunch of terrorists to contend with. Park could have made so much more of of this intriguing twist to the tale but the poor old jet fighter ended up being an irrelevant bit-part to the plot and left me wondering why it was there in the first place.
One literary 'first' is basing an entire story on a lonely orchid. Plot spoiler alert; the orchid survives, finds true love and everyone lives happily ever after.
A great book for teenagers who like their action fast, unrealistic and entirely predictable.

Dragged on a bit
I’m a big Tony Park fan. Usually the books have me craving a rerun to visiting South Africa. This didn’t. Maybe it was due to COVID19. And travel restrictions. I’m not sure.
