About this listen
Listen to the Land of the Elementals, Books 1-3. Over 480,000 words in one convenient box set!
Life is cruel. Arbor learns this lesson the hard way when everything he loves is taken from him in a single night. Left alive by the men who butchered his family, Arbor has two options: give up and perish, or rise up and fight to take back the life he's lost. To do that, though, he'll have to leave behind the only home he's ever known and venture out into the world beyond.
What he doesn't yet realize is that the world is a much more dangerous place than he could ever have imagined. A world filled with magic, monsters, and mythic beasts powerful enough to destroy entire nations!
Warning: Contains mild profanity and content that may not be suitable for children.

Soundbooth Theatre Carried pretty hard
The story, while not horrible, is fairely pedestrian and contrived. The naming conventions for pretty much everything from magic to places feels like the story originated in another language and was poorly translated. There were a lot of scenes and characters that made me cringe and feel embarrassed to be listening to. 'Seven' for example made me want to skip whole chapters. The main character gets a lot handed to him just because he's the nicest guy in a room full of assholes a lot of the time including the mcguffins that gives him his power. It makes him hard to like, I almost wish he stayed an unrepentant racist asshole like he was for a fraction of a second in book 3 just to give him some kind of character flaw.
The narrator and voice actors elevated it considerably. I didn't regret the time I spent on this series but I wouldn't be recommending it to any of my friend is either.
