Over the top a bit in drama

Only 2 hours in and I will struggle to listen to the rest if it doesn't bring down the over the Top Drama to a simple situation. Mia is a village girl and gets a decent splinter in the foot and it's treated like a mortal wound scene. "Don't worry Village girl Mia I'll save you" like your going to die in the next 30 seconds from a inch splinter in the foot. Love at first sight Lesbian tentacle action I foresee so different. Will change the review and scores if book gets better but at this stage it'll be a struggle with the over the top drama.
