Poor narrator

The story seems good and I will finish it in written format, but this narrator had me quitting in chapter 7, when I was sure I was listening to a serene priestess - instead it was frantic king. If you can’t tell the sex of the characters and their vocal emotions don’t match the written description, it is time to try for something better.
