Publisher's Summary
Kyle Spencer is the king of country music.
She’s the city girl, sent to talk him into returning to the stage…
Piper Egan landed her dream job straight out of college—working at Empire Records. But instead of discovering new talent and changing lives, like she’d hoped, her time is spent taking meeting notes and catering to spoiled celebrities. When the chance to change that finally appears, she should be thrilled.
Unfortunately, Piper’s promotion involves the charming cowboy she’s spent years attempting to avoid. And flying to middle of nowhere, Texas, in a desperate attempt to talk the king of country music into returning to the stage.
It’s a work trip with no boundaries. Piper is determined to head back to New York with a signed contract in hand, no matter what it takes. But that plan becomes complicated when she’s greeted by a scowl instead of Kyle’s trademark grin. Becomes challenging when she glimpses the genuine guy beneath the superstar. Becomes impossible when she learns the reason he walked away from the spotlight.
When she realizes…her only plan should have been to protect her heart.

Really enjoyed this and the narration really made it.
This one is going in my Favorites. I'm not sure how reading the ebook would have been as it is a long warm up between the main two characters and I see some readers found that boring.
However I listened to the audio rather than the ebook. Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt did such a great job I felt really invested in the story. I never fail to be impressed by Zachary's range and subtlety in interpretation. He really inhabits his characters.
My only misgiving is the plot point of the heroine justifying invading the hero's life and persisting to get a promotion . She also believes it doesn't really matter why he is fixed on leaving music at the peak of his success; that he owes people and shouldn't just knock back the money. Whether she changes her outlook eventually or not, it made her lacking in sensitivity and exploitative.
Btw I REALLY didn't like the cover design. I would have passed this by if it hadn't been for the narrators advertised. It said nothing about the book and didn't welcome at all.

🎵🎶🤠💘heartwarming💘🤠🎶🎵
I really enjoyed this book, listened to it pretty much straight through on a lazy Saturday. The story line was moving at good pace, it’s not repetitive, just a book with all the feels. Andi Arnt and Zachary Webber are my favourite narrators and did another amazing job with this one. I’ll be listening it it again 🎶🎵🤠💘🎶🎵🤠💘🎶🎵🤠💘🎶🎵🤠💘
