About this listen

The first book in the acclaimed Wyatt series, by one of Australia’s most revered crime writers.

Wyatt robs banks and payroll vans. Most men like him are dead or in jail, but Wyatt stamps a cold, pitiless style on his heists and has never been caught. Now his funds are low and his luck is running out - until the day Anna Reid explains about the kickback in her partner’s safe.

But other players are involved. In Wyatt’s world, there is no yielding, no redemption, and when he’s crossed, the outcome is inevitable.

Suspenseful listen with edgy twists

No doubt about Disher… he knows how to put together a good yarn… and that’s just the start of the series!

Punchy and fast paced

I liked the fast pace of this story and the lack of other irrelevant sideline stories that don't add any real value to the whole plot. I'll be listening to the next book in the series for sure.

Crime from the criminals’ point of view

The first in a series about the career criminal Wyatt, who usually pulls a couple of big jobs and lives on the proceeds the rest of the year.
But, running short of funds, he is drawn into a job with a wannabe gangster obsessed with the outlaw James gang. When things go wrong he takes on other jobs and the novel tracks these in well-paced, economical prose. It is hard boiled without hard boiled similes and metaphors, and as readers we side with Wyatt, a calculating, violent anti-hero.
Dorje Swallow’s is excellent, just right for this genre.
