Die Erschöpfung einer langen Nachtfahrt zwingt Professor van Dusen und Hatch, sich in einem abgelegenen kleinen Hotel einzuquartieren. Eigentlich eine gute Gelegenheit, die in letzter Zeit zwischen ihnen brodelnden Konflikte näher zu besprechen… wenn da nicht zur unpassendsten Zeit ein Mord geschehen und das Hotel von finsteren Gestalten umzingelt würde. Denn leider war das Opfer der Geldkurier eines skrupellosen Gangsterbosses und dieser gibt van Dusen nur wenige Stunden Zeit, dessen verschwundenes Geld zu finden, ehe er zu drastischen Maßnahmen greift.
Also wird es wohl eher kein erholsamer Aufenthalt!
