Narration good but misgivings about the story
I have many of Carly Phillips books in the series and have generally loved them. Not so much with this one.
I agree with another reviewer that the whole body pride thing was overdone. I'm happy with socially relevant stuff in stories but not when they dominate over the romantic story,
I really didn't like the heroine at one point in the story. The hero has very conflicted about them having sex with his friend and business partner's sister, and clearly said no to her advances. Yet she pushed, teased and manipulated till she got her way. I'd imagine if the genders had been reversed, readers may have objected to these efforts to override a No to consent.
He could be manipulative too and predatory and controlling to get his way in the bedroom. He also grabbed her with repeated smacking (again without warning or her consent). I know some woman may find that arousing (as the story suggests), but many don't and feels a crossing of boundaries.
It is so much what women have had to endure from men in past decades and centuries. Their partners decided they were getting 'out of line' or disobedient to their dominance and ownership of them and smacked them. There may be laws against that now but so much of this seems to endure cloaked in romantic acceptance.
This hero, even when alone outside the bedroom reflects once that he'd like to go home and smack her for upsetting him... this isn't romance.
Finally, I'm a small voice but why so much talk of naughty girls and dirty girls rather than woman who accept their sexual expression as good and normal.
