About this listen
From USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry comes a small town, neighbors to lovers romance.
Memphis Ward arrives in Quincy, Montana, on the fifth worst day of her life. She needs a shower. She needs a snack. She needs some sanity. Because moving across the country with her newborn baby is by far the craziest thing she’s ever done.
But maybe it takes a little crazy to build a good life. If putting the past behind her requires a thousand miles and a new town, she’ll do it if it means a better future for her son. Even if it requires setting aside the glamour of her former life. Even if it requires working as a housekeeper at The Eloise Inn and living in an apartment above a garage.
It’s there, on the fifth worst day of her life, that she meets the handsomest man she’s ever laid eyes on. Knox Eden is a beautiful, sinful dream, a chef and her temporary landlord. With his sharp, stubbled jaw and tattooed arms, he’s raw and rugged and everything she’s never had - and never will. Because after the first worst day of her life, Memphis learned a good life requires giving up on her dreams too. And a man like Knox Eden will only ever be a dream.

not my trope but I listened anyway
although baby tropes are not my thing I listened mainly for the series and knox's story and also maxine mitchell is my all time fave narrator, not to mention delicious Jason Clarke.
the story was slow in pace however that's what the plotline called for, there wasn't much suspense although there could have been if Ms Perry chose to wrote in that direction.
but it book was kept simple and concentrated on the H and h. Other family characters popped which was nice and that's the reason why I love series.
I got a bit annoyed with the phone ringing. it needed to be said as it kept the intrigue alive but I just wanted her to turn it off!
babies and crying, for me personally, makes me cringe, but again, that's what the plot was about.
it was a slow burn between the main pair and the adversary was a little unexpected twist .
all in all cute little story about a single mum with a past. and a hero with a sadder one.
if you like sweet babies and slow burn alphas then you'll like this, personally, not my thing.
narrators did it for me.

New Comfort Read
I read this within 24 hours and god it was special! It was a beautiful story of ealing, starting over and learning to let in love that is selfless and all consuming. Seeing Knox learn to let in Memphis and Drake after all his hurt and learn to love them was the most beautiful and heartwarming element. Watching Memphis learn her self worth and growing into an amazing strong and independent woman was amazing! The fact that there was no unnecessary miscommunication and drama made this book perfect. This has all the elements needed for a comfort read.
All the moments we had with all the Eden family members was amazing, it made the story so much more dynamic and well rounded. I expected and predicted the conflict however I still sat there with my jaw on the floor and my tummy was in knots.
TROPES: single mum, grumpy man, small town, forced proximity
TRIGGERS: child missing, stalking, toxic relationship (parents), emotional abuse

Cute story but lacks depth..
The author has an easy smooth way of writing but the depth is not quite there. It doesn’t quite bring the listener to feel the emotions you want to throughout creating a slightly rushed approach & skimming over scenes that could take it to a whole new level. Beautifully narrated & still worthy of the listen. I do recommend this series.
