About this listen

Junavik is a young boy who sets out to explore from his family cabin on the great Copper River in Alaska. As his adventure unfolds, Junavik gets lost in a snowstorm. Throughout his journey, he uses his bravery and the lessons his mother and father taught him about surviving in the wilderness. His greatest assets, however, are the animals and natural wonders of Alaska that help guide him back home.

Junavik teaches us lessons about bravery, good manners, honoring one's parents and the lessons they have imparted, respect for wilderness and animals, kindness, and the importance of home. Along the way, Junavik will learn how to pronounce the names of the animals he meets in Ahtna, one of 11 endangered Athabaskan languages, and you'll learn right along with him!

Junavik: One Boy's Adventure in Alaska will enrich children's minds with the language and sounds of a unique culture and place as well as spark their imaginations as they join the brave and endearing young Alaskan native on his exciting adventure.
