Men Riktor vil egentlig gerne ud af sin ensomhed. Derfor slutter han et mærkeligt venskab med den stærkt alkoholiserede Arnfinn, som han møder i en park. En dag ser Riktor Arnfinn stjæle penge fra Riktors pung. Uden at tøve slår han ham ihjel med en hammer og begraver ham under en rododendronbusk i baghaven. Få dage efter dukker politiet op. Men det er ikke Arnfinn, de leder efter. De anklager Riktor for et mord på en patient på plejehjemmet - et mord, han imidlertid ikke har begået.
