About this listen

There's a silent epidemic in Western civilization, and it is right under our noses. Our jaws are getting smaller and our teeth crooked and crowded, creating not only aesthetic challenges but also difficulties with breathing. Modern orthodontics has persuaded us that braces and oral devices can correct these problems. While teeth can certainly be straightened, what about the underlying causes of this rapid shift in oral evolution and the health risks posed by obstructed airways?

Sandra Kahn and Paul R. Ehrlich, a pioneering orthodontist and a world-renowned evolutionist, respectively, present the biological, dietary, and cultural changes that have driven us toward this major health challenge. They propose simple adjustments that can alleviate this developing crisis, as well as a major alternative to orthodontics that promises more significant long-term relief.

Jaws will change your life. Every parent should listen to this audiobook.

Narration is terrible

The subject is very interesting but the narration is way to fast with no pauses. I could only get half way through the book.
I will most likely read it again.

Great content

The book itself was excellent, but a word of warning if you drive...the pitch of the narrators voice gets drowned out instantly by any form of background noise!

Crucial information for every human to put into action

Great info though the narrator’s deep tones take a little to get used to - it takes more concentration to decipher his speech at even slightly higher than normal reading speeds. A big thank you to all involved in putting this book together.

Great content, terrible narration

Book full of great info that would otherwise be well presented, if the narrator read it using punctuation or inflection, which he did not.

Was a terrible slog to extract a few useful tidbits of information, most of which was available and presented better in breathe by James Nestor.

Fascinating

I always like to fact check things I hear or read. A lot of the discussion about the benefits of an unprocessed diet, extended breastfeeding, and proper oral posture is documented in other areas of research too.
Even if there is not much opportunity to influence jaw development as an adult, there is certainly opportunity as a child. None of these strategies are harmful, so I will definitely be implementing them in my household.

I wish I’d read this before I had my children.

Parents stand to save the most and their children to benefit the most but the list of people who need to read this would be longer…every family doctor, dentist, orthodontist, ENT, midwife, early childhood educator, parent/potential parent, grandparents, health minister, health insurance professional, baby-food provider, social influencer etc
Please let’s all read this, act on it in our own lives and spread the word.

Invaluable insight delivered robotically.

There's a chunk of uncommon knowledge to glean from this book, but the narrator's AI-like delivery meant things didn't quite stick as they should; it had the effect like I was skim listening, albeit unintentionally. Towards the end I felt there were some redundant and inconsequential sections, though perhaps that impression was also influenced by my disenchantment with the narration.

Informative but dry

Performance and content was a bit dry, don't listen while dealing with distractions.
Very informative and interesting content, a couple of the underpinning theories I personally question, however I believe the conclusions are likely to be sound. Definitely has changed my perspective and the way I will deal with the mouths of my children and myself.
