About this listen
Three sisters in 1920s struggle to make ends meet and protect their mother from their violent father. Milly works in Southwells jam factory. Elsie dreams of a career on the stage, while little Amy runs wild with her friends.
All three of the girls fear the unforgiving temper of their father and their courageous attempts to protect their defenseless mother will have dramatic, disastrous consequences for them all.

Jam & Roses
Roses & Jam is an excellent saga - couldn't wait to hear the whole story and then I wanted it to continue.
Thoroughly enjoyable.

Another great story by Mary Gibson
The stories by Mary Gibson's are so compelling I never want them to end.
Her descriptions of Bermondsey come to life and you can almost smell the factories. The characters are all believable and the social history makes me realise just how privileged we are - even in the current COVID restrictions.
Ann Dover has a great narrative voice, the only thing that let the performance down slightly was the Irish accent which was forgotten at times.
I would definitely recommend this book.
