About this listen
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market!
Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power. There, Jake snatched divinity from the hands of the ascending god, consuming it for himself without any regard for the consequences of his actions. In a surprise twist, such a poorly thought-out plan came with some serious downsides! Now Jake has a big target painted on his back. The jealous gods of this world are hungry for divine power and not afraid to kill another god to get it. Stuck in the past, Jake must learn to navigate a world full of desperate gods, wild monsters, bizarre powers, and weird “cultivating” mortals who claim they can become just as powerful as the gods themselves—as long as they get to sit around contemplating the mysteries of the universe for a few hundred years first. Join Jake on his next grand adventure as he learns what it means to be a newly ascended divinity, how to survive in such a strange new world, and how he might just have an unexpected edge on everyone and everything that’s out to get him—by learning how to craft his own magical cards!
**Boasting a 4.7-star rating with over 11,000 reviews on Amazon/Audible, this sequel is a must-have for fans of Gamelit novels, wild adventures, and stories about regular people traveling to strange new worlds. Also, stay tuned for the third book in the series, which is gonna be even bigger, crazier, and full of even more magical cards. And it’s coming out in just a couple of months!**

Still really good
Changing narrators can be hard, but John did a fantastic job. Will definitely continue with the new narrator. Story was also really good, I'm looking forward to the next instalment

Great choice for a replacement narrator.
Took me a single chapter to adapt to the voice change . Well done to the author on his choice of narrator.

Great
I read it as soon as it came out and I had to get the Audible version too. New narrator was great after a couple of chapters. Enjoyed it just as much the second time around.

The new voice grows on you as the book goes on.
You can tell that a lot of effort has gone into transitioning the voice in this series. I am happy that the author was upfront with why and that helps smooth over the initial transition. After the first hour I was fully engaged again with the new voice. Kudos to everyone who worked on this project for handling it this way, and I believe the right hard choice was made to ensure the audiobooks were produced in a reasonable time frame.

Just as funny as before, New Narrator picked up great IMHO.
The Good,
New Narrator picked up well the first 2-3 chapters were weird as I just finished listening to JMM 1 but after that it feels very similar to JMM1.
Lots of new story building and new powers. New friends and Crafting.
More introspection and great comedy.
The not so good.
It feels like all the power from the first book just dissapeared, Like Jake was at the peak of book 1's power level(Apart from the gods) and it feels like all of that was not part of book 2(Like I know he stopped using body strengthening etc when he was stuck in the dying world, but missed that here would have loved to see a reason for this or building in this.
I am fearful for the pace of Book 3, there is so much left to do with the premise of the oath in B2, and returning to his world and saving it, also ehat changes his actions will have. I have some ideas of things that will happen in terms of the elves, but this all seems so much to squeeze in to one book. I am hoping the ending will be better than "and then he went home".
The interesting.
During my second listen now I am seeing alot of spaces where his splintering is coming through, in terms of Lung's actions.
Final:
Heres to hoping B3 will live up to the hype and finish with a bang. I suspect Jake will get a imense growth in power now that he has people crafting for him, and suspecting soon there will be 2 continents and more worlds that contribute to this soon in book 3.

Narrated well
New narrators are always a challenge, but I felt like the new narrator was actually better than the original… with the voice better suiting the main character. Good book, looking forward to the next.

The new voice
I like the story it was fun. The voice actor changed but he’s fantastic as Jake and the female character (some male voice actors cannot do female voice at all but he does them great).

Looking forward to the next book.
Not at all perturbed by the narrator change, as John performed as well as the legend Travis.
