About this listen

As a young boy Jacob had always been on the fringes of society, never quite fitting in or keeping friends for too long due to his quick temper and inflexibility. As he grew through his teenage years and early twenties he committed himself to the community and his faith but resigned himself to the fact that he was different to the others. He knew that his difference and quick temper meant that some villagers were scared of him, and the kids often teased him for his solitude and lack of tolerance.

One day he saw the kids throwing stones at the door and windows of old Eli’s home. In a rage Jacob caught one of the boys and nearly in tears with rage shouted at him in such a manner that the community considered him a danger. Jacob prayed to Gott for more tolerance and control, and he was given a word from Gott. When in town collecting groceries from the store, Jacob was presented with a critical situation where he could either change or “snap”. Would Jacob ever be an accepted part of the community?

Another great Amish short listening drama from Abigail Augsburger.
