Editorial reviews

Perhaps history's most infamous serial killer, Jack the Ripper remains a continued source of intrigue for authors, historians, and forensic scientists. Indeed, the elusive assailant has assumed an almost legendary, superhuman status in the public's psyche, and yet little is known about him. Jude Beaumont leads this iMinds inquiry into the brutal 1888 murders of five impoverished London prostitutes. The television actress draws on chilling source material, including the three letters supposedly sent by the killer to the London Central News Agency, among them the infamous "From Hell" letter, wherein he claims to have eaten one of his victim's kidneys. Beaumont strikes a chilling, but inquisitive tone, as she examines over a century's worth of investigations, conspiracy theories, and fictional representations that form Ripper's legacy.

"I'm learning all sorts of stuff about stuff I didn't even know I didn't know. And it sticks. In a nutshell: wonderful." (Jonathon Margolis, Financial Times)
