About this listen
To an outsider, Anthony Hanna lives a charmed life. He’s a firefighter - every boy’s dream job. Even better, he regularly features in the Australian Firefighters Calendar. He’s a former police negotiator who worked on the frontline of critical operations. And as a teenager, he was a champion pole vaulter with Olympic potential.
But since childhood, Anthony has lived with mental illness. At 12, he was diagnosed with OCD, and he experiences a daily battle to control its rituals and repetitions. More recently, he was hit hard by the black dog of depression.
In this frank, honest memoir Anthony talks about the reality of living with mental illness. He explains how his OCD mind is ruled by numbers - and how that helped him achieve goals that seemed impossible. He describes how OCD gave him the empathy needed to be a successful police negotiator. And he explains how he learned to control depression with goal setting and hard work.
It’s Your World, I’m Just Living in It is full of amazing stories that demonstrate how a misfit can achieve success while living with an anxiety disorder. This audiobook is a motivating, heart-warming, entertaining look at the life of an everyday, extraordinary Australian.

An incredible story of true courage & determination
This book was captivating from the very start. Men often hide mental health issues & it would have taken an incredible amount of courage to tell this story.
The police stories are so detailed & entertaining.
I’d recommend this to everybody, particularly anybody suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depression or anxiety, Ant’s story is so empowering!
