Nihonshu (Japanese sake) is a type of alcohol made by fermenting rice. It has been produced in Japan for more than 1,000 years.

米を発酵させて造る日本酒は日本独特のお酒で、1000年以上前から造られてきました。
日本酒のアルコール度数は約15%で、これはワインよりも少し高めです。
日本酒の製造元を蔵元と呼び、日本全国に約1500軒もあります。
その土地の米や水で造られた酒を地酒と呼び、全国にはさまざまな地酒があります。
日本酒は製法により、純米酒、本醸造酒、吟醸酒などの区別があります。
飲み方には、常温や冷やして飲む「冷や」と、温めて飲む「熱燗」の2通りがあります。
