歌舞伎のルーツは江戸時代初頭に「出雲の阿国」という女性が京都で踊った「かぶき踊り」。
その名前は、当時、奇抜な服装をし、常識はずれな行動をする「かぶき者」と呼ばれた人々に由来します。
当初は女性が演じましたが、風紀が乱れるという理由で江戸時代前期に禁止され、現在では女性役も男性が演じます。
歌舞伎役者が顔に描く模様は隈取と呼ばれます。
一般的に正義の味方やヒーロー役には赤い線、悪役には黒や青い線が使われ、客がひと目でわかるようになっています。
歌舞伎は、東京なら銀座の歌舞伎座などで一年中見ることができ、大阪や京都などでも定期的に公演が行われています。©2017 KODANSHA
