酉の日は毎年異なり、11月の酉の日が2回ある年と3回ある年があります。
1回目から順に一の酉、二の酉、三の酉と呼ばれ、三の酉まである年は火事が多いともいわれます。
江戸時代に秋の収穫を祝う農民たちが、鷲大明神に鶏を奉納したのが、酉の市の始まり。現在は、熊手を売る露店が建ち並ぶことで有名です。
「福や金銀をかきこむ」といわれる縁起物の熊手は、毎年、ひとまわり大きなものに買い換えると良いといわれています。©2017 KODANSHA
