Oshogatsu is the time of the year when most people in Japan are able to take time off and relax. 日本では、新年の1月1日の朝を「元旦」、1日を「元日」、3日までを「三が日」、7日までを「松の内」と言う慣わしがあり、すべて含めてお正月と呼びます。
もともとは神様を家に迎え、その年の豊穣を願う行事で、現在でも門松やしめ飾り、鏡餅などを飾るのは、その名残です。
お正月には里帰りする人も多く、日頃、遠くに住んでいる家族や親戚が集まります。
みんなでおせち料理を食べ、神社やお寺に初詣に出かけ、子どもたちはお正月ならではの遊びをして過ごします。
また、1月1日は国民の祝日とされ、三が日は一般的に多くの会社やお店がお休みになるため、お正月は、日本では一年のうちで最も多くの人が休み、のんびり過ごす時期になっています。©2017 KODANSHA
