In Japan, March 3rd is the day of the Hina Matsuri Festival. 日本では、3月3日は雛祭りの日です。
雛祭りは、女の子の成長と幸せを願う行事で、桃の花が咲く季節に行われることから「桃の節供」とも呼ばれます。
雛祭りがいつ頃から行われているかははっきりしませんが、江戸時代には、女の子のいる家庭で雛人形を飾ってお祝いをする風習が始まりました。
雛人形は宮中の宮廷衣装を身に着けた人形で、天皇と皇后、大臣や女官、楽師などを表しています。
雛祭りでは女の子たちは着物を着て、雛あられやちらし寿司、甘酒などの伝統料理を食べてお祝いします。
3月3日を過ぎたら雛人形をすぐ片付けないと、女性はお嫁に行くのが遅れるなどといわれています。©2017 KODANSHA
