About this listen
As a storm rolls in, a team of elite Navy SEALs arrives at a remote lodge for a wilderness training exercise that becomes terrifyingly real....
Xavier Rivera planned the exercise down to the smallest detail, but he didn't plan the arrival of archaeologist Audrey Kendrick—a woman he shared a passionate night with before betraying her in the worst way.
As the storm is unleashed on the historic lodge it becomes clear the training has been compromised. Trapped by weather, isolated by the remote wilderness, and silenced as communication with the world has been severed, unarmed SEALs face an unexpected and deadly foe.
Audrey and Xavier must set aside their distrust and desire and work together to save a team under fire and survive in a battle against the wild.
“INTO THE STORM showcases Grant’s talent for weaving together heart-pounding adventure and touching romance. Another page-turner!” (New York Times best-selling author Laura Griffin)

Narration Offputting
I have read this book and I quite enjoyed it, so thought an audio version would be worthwhile. However, the manner in which the book is narrated spoiled it for me, so six chapters in I could not go any further and have returned it. I have listened to other books with both a male and a female narrator and have enjoyed them. But in this case, instead of the male narrator voicing the male characters and the female voicing the females, the narrators take turns reading a chapter each one after the other. I found it very offputting; it changes the perception of the chatacters as there is no continuity of voice. The narrators themselves were okay, just the manner in which the narration was undertaken did not work for me.

Introspection overload
This got a lot of reviews so I gave it a go.
First time listening to this author and as I like 80% action/ops and 20% romance I figured that'll do.
But I already see a few flaws.
The object in the 1st 4 chapters was to get from A to B fast. They chose the slow way, then when they abandoned B it wasn't with much difficulty. Especially since the h was determined.
The angst unfolds but where they need to be invisible they use tools that don't maintain that nuance.
And it isn't till chapter 4 that the H asks the question why? Took awhile.
Great writing heaps of world-building lots of terrain description and we got different POVs. And with each character needing background, it took a while.
The worst for me was the Introspection and internal dialogue summations of different scenarios with each character.
I found it detracted from the build-up of the op and suspense. I almost got a little ticked and nearly stopped listening. But I hung in there.
The romance was there along with the hot memories but again a flaw. the heat builds while on a mission...wt! Lots of seals and tangos running everywhere especially seals that needed warning/saving.
Right away I thought the H was a dick and at chapter 8 I'm still not sure I like him. Things are looking up though as the why he's a dick is coming to the fore. We're even finding out more about the adversaries and the action.
I'm hoping the h isn't a pushover, so far she's not and I'm happy to fist pump and say our h was definitely kickass.
It took till chapter 10 for a simple description of the park area that gave me an idea of where everyone and everything was situated.
The plot thickens round chapter 28 and things start to fall into place. The Black ops "classified instruction" hinders the plotline but once it's out, the world building slows to a trickle and the Introspection stalls but doesn't totally stop. However the back half of the book was a lot better with plenty of action and suspense and a lot of character POV'S.
The steam starts out medium and got hotter by the end.
So while the drama is there from the get-go, the in-between internal dialogue eeked it out but the drive behind the plotline was bigger than I anticipated. It was really well put together...well done Rachel. The geography description was beautiful and the military information was well-researched. Then Rachel gives us one last angst ...a bit thin in the explanation department but it answered questions.
In saying that, I feel the book could have been a little shorter as all the self-introspection and background history stretched out.
In the end, all loose ends tied up nicely
And the story had a nice romantic overtone. I love the baby name.
Listening to this book in this climate around the world... was a tad eye-opening.
I enjoyed the narrator's especially Nicol, her tones and inflections were great.
Greg has a nice voice and the H came into minds eye nicely.
